About Akron

Akron is a city of neighborhoods, and each one has its own personality and its own set of home repair challenges. The Craftsman bungalows in Highland Square need different attention than the mid-century ranches in Firestone Park. The century homes in West Akron have different bones than the post-war builds in Goodyear Heights. We have worked in all of them, and we understand what each one needs.

Highland Square and Wallhaven are full of character homes built in the 1910s through 1930s. Beautiful woodwork, original plaster, hardwood floors under old carpet. These homes reward careful renovation. They also punish shortcuts. We do a lot of plaster repair, trim restoration, bathroom updates, and kitchen modernization in these neighborhoods. The key is respecting the original craftsmanship while bringing things up to modern standards.

Firestone Park and Goodyear Heights were built for rubber workers in the mid-twentieth century. These are solid, no-nonsense homes, but many are now sixty to eighty years old. Knob-and-tube wiring has mostly been replaced, but we still run into outdated electrical panels, original plumbing, and windows that should have been swapped out twenty years ago. Homeowners in these neighborhoods get tremendous value from targeted upgrades like new flooring, bathroom remodels, and energy-efficient windows.

Ellet, on the east side of Akron closest to our Tallmadge base, is a neighborhood we know well. Lots of 1950s-1970s ranches and bi-levels on generous lots. Common projects include deck repair, exterior painting, gutter replacement, and finishing those half-done basements. Chapel Hill, just south of Ellet, has similar housing stock with a few newer subdivisions mixed in.

North Hill has one of the most diverse housing stocks in the city. Older doubles, small singles, and scattered new builds. We do a lot of interior work there: drywall repair, flooring installation, door replacement, and general repair jobs. Kenmore and South Akron also keep us busy with affordable homes that benefit from smart updates rather than full gut jobs.

Merriman Valley along Sand Run connects Akron to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Homes there tend to be on the higher end, tucked into wooded lots with mature trees and sloped terrain. We handle exterior repairs, deck maintenance, and premium bathroom and kitchen work in that corridor. The wooded setting means more gutter cleaning, more wood rot remediation, and more attention to moisture management.
